UMBRA International, a security firm providing holistic security services to private clients, was recently awarded the Gold ERS award for supporting and advocating for our Armed Forces. Support of employers like UMBRA has tangible benefits for the military, especially our Veterans and Reservists who gain increased opportunities, extra time off for exercise and a network they can rely on.

In addition to this support, they are one of the sponsors of the Army Cadet’s National Ambassador Jordan Wylie MBE on his expedition to the Antarctic. Jordan’s aim was to ski to and summit an unclimbed mountain peak in the Antarctic wilderness whilst towing all his equipment and supplies. The extreme temperatures and the rugged terrain tested his endurance, determination and discipline, giving him a chance to inspire young people to embrace life’s challenges and push beyond their perceived limits. With this expedition, Jordan is raising funds for the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK, the official charity of the Army Cadet Force. In total over £70,000 have been raised so far.

“For us at UMBRA International, ‘security’ is about people as much as protection – of our lifestyles, and of society in general. Our Armed Forces face challenges that affect everyone, and by standing alongside them, we help make sure both service members and the wider community are stronger and more supported.

“By supporting our Armed Forces, businesses are not only honouring service but helping to create a more Secure Lifestyle and a supported society.

“Additionally, when young people are introduced to discipline, teamwork, and leadership through organisations like the Army Cadets, they gain qualities that shape them for life. In turn, society benefits from capable, resilient citizens, while our Armed Forces gain a skilled and motivated pipeline of future leaders. This cycle of growth and contribution fosters mutual respect between those who serve and those they protect, and can only benefit wider society as a whole.”

Jordan, a veteran and Army Cadet Forces’ national Ambassador since 2018, explains:

“For me, having the support of UMBRA is incredibly important because it represents the power of partnership and shared values. UMBRA isn’t just supporting me personally, they’re standing alongside the Army Cadets and also the wider Armed Forces community.

“As a veteran, it means a lot to see a business using its platform and resources to give back to those who serve and to help inspire the next generation through adventure, leadership, and outdoor learning.

“By raising money for Army Cadet Charitable Trust United Kingdom, we’re directly investing in young people, giving them opportunities to grow in confidence, develop resilience, and learn skills that will stay with them for life.

“The charity helps remove barriers so that every young person, regardless of background, can access the life-changing experiences the cadet force offers.

“Together with UMBRA’s support, we’re not just funding activities and access to opportunity, we’re helping to build better futures and ensure that the values of service, community, and leadership continue to thrive in the next generation.”

For employers like UMBRA, supporting our military through the Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment to action. Members of the Armed Forces community bring discipline, strategic thinking, and calm under pressure – qualities that enhance business operations of firms like UMBRA.
