GL RFCA plays a leading role in strengthening the environment for Reservists and Cadets across London.

GL RFCA is the focal point for Reserves and Cadets of all three Services in London. We came into existence in 1908 at the same time as the Territorial Army, as did 12 other autonomous Reserve Forces and Cadets Associations (RFCAs) spread throughout the United Kingdom.

This helps the combat-readiness of the Reserves, enhancing the operational capability of the Armed Forces as a whole. For the Cadets, we ensure safe buildings for their use and assist with the recruitment, administration, and establishment of new Cadet units.

Elworthy Trophy 2023

The Elworthy Trophy Competition, an esteemed annual cadet event, unfolded at CTC Frimley on October 14th. Gathering 12 cadet detachments and units from across London, the competition provided a dynamic platform for these young talents to demonstrate their skills, teamwork, and indomitable spirit.

This competitive arena served as a testing ground for cadets, engaging them in a diverse range of activities that challenged both their physical and mental acumen. From raft building to archery, these challenges offered an exhilarating and educational experience for the cadets.

The 2023 competition left an indelible mark as 12 teams, led by the remarkable 14F Squadron Air Training Corps (ATC), emerged as champions, showcasing exceptional skills and unwavering determination. The runners-up, the 21 Cadet Detachment from Middlesex and the Northwest Army Cadet Force (MX & NW Sector ACF), delivered impressive performances, resulting in a closely contested event.

Distinguished guests, Sir Ken Olisa, Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, and Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Ranald Munro CB CBE TD DL VR, added significance to this memorable event.
