Aicha Hassan, 17, and Safia Hassan, 15, of Middlesex and North London Company 238, have been spreading awareness of climate change through proactive campaigning.
The young activists (who are also sisters) are members of Global Justice Now – a youth movement tackling the climate crisis – and recently attended a rally which coincided with COP26 taking place in Glasgow. They also attended a climate change conference in the city, discussed climate issues on radio and joined the Ride the Change COP26 bike ride from London to Glasgow.
The sisters are members of YOUNGO and Africa Youth4Climate, and follow in the trailblazing footsteps of their mother who was instrumental in the establishment of Chad Army Cadet Force after she saw the benefits her daughters reaped from being Army Cadets in the UK.
In a speech during a recent environmental event Safia said ‘This is our last chance for the planet… there is no planet B.’
